Our carbon neutral
commitment

We are very proud to announce that we are officially certified as a Carbon Neutral Clinic for the second year in a row and that we are continuing our commitment into 2023!

What does it mean?
Since 2021, we are committed to measuring, reducing and offsetting our emissions for the year through the purchase of carbon credits.

These credits are invested in Gold Standard certified projects in various sectors (renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy recovery, etc.) and contribute to projects for the protection and restoration of sensitive natural habitats in Quebec operated by Nature Conservancy Canada.

For 2022, we have offset 23,4 tons of CO2ᵉ, the equivalent of 613 vehicules going from Montreal to Quebec City. That's a one-third reduction in our emissions compared to 2021!

A journey realized in collaboration with planetair.ca and Maillon Vert as part of the eco+responsible program.

Our #defiecolovert challenge this year

In 2023, at Ekinox, we are challenging ourselves in replacing at least 1,500 kilometers usually driven by car with an active mode of transportation (walking, biking, running, scooter, etc.)

According to our carbon footprint, nearly 92% of our greenhouse gas emissions are caused by transportation to our clinic!

We must all be part of the solution. Each person, family, and business must be aware of their impact and most importantly, that each person can make a difference.

That's why, last year, we launched the #defiecolovert to inspire Quebec companies to adopt practices that promote sustainability in the workplace.

Here are 40 ideas (approved and developed in collaboration with our partner, Maillon Vert) to quickly implement sustainable initiatives!

Reduce paper use

We try to send our health intake forms, invoices and receipts by email most of the time. In addition, the majority of our therapists now do 100% of their charts online!

Compost

We have decided to mobilize the employees and manage the compost ourselves until it's available through our municipality. We have a small bin in the freezer that we bring home when it is full!

Buying local

We pay even more attention to our recurring purchases and prioritize local and ethically sourced partners. For example, our cleaning products are purchased in bulk from Vert Essentiel in Vaudreuil-Dorion and our uniforms are produced by the Quebec-based company Ethica.
