What classes are available at Ekinox?
Pilates
Pilates is a form of mind-body exercise created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920s that is practiced by men and women around the world!
Focusing on deep strengthening of the stabilizing muscles of your spine, Pilates helps you keep your back strong and relieve chronic tension and pain. Through fairly physical, but gentle, non-impact exercises, Pilates work especially the lower body muscles (abs, back and glutes), but also the arms, shoulders and hips.
Posture is a focus throughout the class. Learn exercises to help improve and correct your posture from head to toe. Regain greater mobility by gaining control of your muscle function and improving your strength, power, balance and flexibility so you can do whatever you are passionate about!
Expect to stand, sit, lie down on your back, your front, your side, rock, glide and rotate your body. No shoes are required. Although this is not a cardio class, it is possible that some of the exercises will increase your heart rate.
Ekinox Fitness
In the Ekinox Fitness class, sessions are structured as dynamic stations, where you rotate through a series of exercises, an approach that ensures a complete and varied workout by targeting different muscle groups and aspects of your physical condition.
Let’s activate your well-being together! You can expect a well-rounded combination of cardiovascular exercises to improve endurance, resistance training to build strength, and balance and stability training to help you stay steady on your feet. Our class emphasizes proper form and technique, promoting physical balance and resilience. Ekinox Fitness provides a purposeful and results-driven approach to achieving holistic fitness and an overall sense of well-being!
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga aims for the perfect balance between effort (HA) and rest (THA).
Classes typically include breathing techniques (Pranayama), Sun salutations, yoga poses (Asanas) held for a few breaths, and a final relaxation. Holding the postures for several breaths stretches, strengthens, and releases tension in the body.
Yoga poses, also called postures or asanas, develop strength, balance and flexibility, while soothing your nerves and calming your mind.
Pranayama is often divided into two words – prana – yama – “prana” meaning life force and “yama” meaning control. In this respect, “pranayama” can translate into breath control.
A regular practice of pranayama can bring harmony between the body, mind, and spirit, making one physically, mentally and spiritually strong. It brings clarity to the mind and good health to the body.
Hatha is considered a gentle yoga that focuses on static poses and is great for beginners. However, even though it is gentle, it can still be physically and mentally challenging.
Embark on a yoga journey where mind, body and soul unite!
